Flower Poster Illustration for the NHS and Lady Garden Foundation
In January of 2024, the team at the NHS and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity commissioned me a flower poster illustration. The aim was to gift a few copies of the poster to the Lady Garden Foundation to thank them for their continued support. Lady Garden Foundation is a charity founded by six women to raise awareness and funding for gynaecological health.
I was really excited as I had the pleasure of working with the same team on a similar project the previous year.
In this blog post, I will share the various phases of creating this flower poster illustration from brainstorming and sketches to the final poster.
Client brief and first sketches
The client anticipates printing the illustration on an A3 poster and provides a brief with initial moodboards.
The main concept they wished to develop played on the similarity between some flowers and the female anatomy. They aimed to feature a different flower for each charity founder drawing inspiration from vintage poster compositions.
I presented the client with a black and white sketch and a roughly coloured sketch. This helped them visualise the final result better.
Coloured illustration
The feedback was positive but the client asked to tweak the colours and make them slightly brighter and more saturated.
Once the sketch was approved I went ahead to finalise the illustration.
Revisions from the client
Once I presented the final illustration, the client gave very positive feedback and requested no further revisions.
I prepared the print-ready files and sent them to the client.
Final illustration
A few weeks later I received the printed poster and it looked absolutely amazing!
That’s all for now, until next time!
