My process

When you approach me to discuss your custom illustration project, you can usually expect from me a 3 stages process.

1 BRAINSTORMING: You talk me through your project and we agree on a proposal.

2 SKETCH: I start working on the sketch and we review it together. I revise it, if necessary. Once you approve the sketch, I proceed to colour it.

3 FINALISATION: I finalise the illustration and send that to you for approval. I tweak it, if necessary, and I send you the final image in digital format.

Why hire me?

There’s something special about artwork that’s thoughtfully made by a person, especially when it captures real places, experiences, and moments. My illustrations are inspired by memories, colour, texture, and atmosphere, whether it’s a map of a city, a favourite drink, or a sunlit piazza.

AI can generate images fast, but it can’t bring intention or personality to a piece. It doesn’t know the warmth of a Mediterranean light, the flavour notes of a favourite drink, or the story you want your visuals to tell. I do, and I bring all of that into every illustration.

When you work with me, you get:

Human intuition and storytelling — I think visually in a way that’s empathetic and purpose-driven, not random permutations of data.

A consistent visual voice — whether it’s a bespoke illustrated map for an event or a series of travel scenes for a brand, everything feels part of the same story.

Thoughtful collaboration — I adapt and refine your ideas to create something that matches your vision.

Every piece I create is made to feel alive, personal, and uniquely yours, something AI can’t replicate.

What people who worked with me say

Collaboration was smooth as always. Mabel illustrated a beautiful map of Copenhagen, special made for Pandora at Copenhagen Fashion Week - highlighting our key touch points throughout the week. Working with Mabel is always super efficient, transparent and we love her illustration style.

Sarah H. - Global PR at Pandora

Thank you for working with me on this project! Some things that I just loved: the highlights and texture you achieved, the rich colors you chose, the activity and fun you were able to inject into the compositions. There are so many great moments on each and every illustration. You have such a unique quality to your work.

Heather G. - Senior Art Director for Quarto Books US

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Mabel on a bespoke project. She was professional, punctual, and kept us updated with sketches throughout the process, making every requested edit. We're delighted with the final artwork and look forward to seeing it printed and framed. Mabel is a talented illustrator, and we'd be very happy to work with her again.

Rosy C. - Senior Stewardship and Communications Executive at Royal Marsden Cancer Charity | NHS Foundation Trust

Mabel created a beautiful heritage timeline for Macclesfield train station, capturing the town's character and creative history. She understood the brief from the outset, carefully incorporated stakeholder feedback, and carried out thorough research to create a distinctive design that contributes to a strong sense of place. Mabel is professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with, and her unique illustration style made the final artwork truly memorable.

Janey M. - Cultural Economy Development Manager at Cheshire East Council

Mabel was wonderful to work with! She took our ideas of map along the coast and made exactly what we were looking for. She took directions extremely well, communicated efficiently and promptly and followed up every question/change/idea we had. The final product came out more then we ever expected and we were so happy with it! We can’t wait to use her again!
